Please note that white ink printing on tissue paper stock may show through when printing on full color tissue paper.

IMPORTANT PRINT REMINDERS FOR 17GSM TISSUE (STANDARD THICKNESS)
  • 17gsm is inherently thin and porous.
    17gsm tissue stocks will not develop solid or completely opaque printed inks owing to the inherent thinness of this tissue stock.
  • For white ink printing on black and dark colored 17gsm tissue stocks:
    This will develop more ‘grayish’ rather than solid white prints due to the thinness of the stock.
  • For colored ink printing on white and light colored 17gsm tissue stocks:
    This will always look lighter and less vibrant/less saturated owing to the thinness of the tissue stock.
  • For dark ink printing on dark colored 17gsm tissue stocks:
    This will create low contrast as 17gsm tissue stocks will not develop solid or completely opaque printed inks owing to the inherent thinness of this tissue stock.
  • For metallic prints on 17gsm tissue stocks:
    Please be advised that the prints are not glossy and metallic and not comparable to a foil stamp.

If you’re matching your tissue paper by choosing similar or complimentary colors and want colored tissue paper stock instead of white tissue paper stock, remember that this will change how colors develop on your custom printed tissue paper.

As the “canvas” is not white, colors will print darker due to the tissue paper base color.

Your artwork previously printed on white tissue paper will translate differently on brown kraft and on other various colored tissue paper stock—there is less contrast unless you adjust your color values.

If it is your first press run, we suggest that you test color development first by doing an on-press sample to see if the colors turn out accurately with the new colored stock.

Your File Preparation Checklist for Custom Tissue Paper Printing

  • Preferred File Type: Layered .PDF: This allows our team to easily check and report any potential issues. (We can also work with .TIFF, .EPS, .PSD, and .AI files – just pay extra attention to the points below.)
  • Text Accuracy is Key: Please proofread all text for typos and grammatical errors. We want your message to be perfect, and we don’t alter your original text files.
  • CMYK for Vivid Prints: Set your images, objects, and overall file color mode to CMYK. This is essential for vibrant digital printing.
  • Add a 3mm Bleed: Crucial for professional-looking edges, remember to add a 3mm bleed on all sides.
  • High-Resolution Images: For crisp prints on your tissue paper ensure all raster images are at least 350dpi.
  • Visible Lines: Your lines should be a minimum of .57pt or 0.2mm thick to print clearly.
  • Clean PDF Export: When exporting your PDF, do not include any printer’s crop marks or registration marks.
  • Outline Your Fonts: Always outline all fonts to prevent any font-related issues during production.

NOTE: Light ink colors on standard white tissue paper may look lighter due to transparency. Color inks on colored tissue stock may shift due to color-on-color interactions, but we will do our best to match.
