Set the perfect mood and achieve your best brand presentation with custom candle labels that work as hard as you do. Find the perfect label for your graceful candle creations by going through our print processes, label materials and finishes below.

Choose from a variety of our standard pressure-sensitive and self-adhesive paper (coated and uncoated), plastic film (white BOPP), clear PVC, foil (PET and metalized paper options), and kraft label stocks for your unique requirements. When choosing your label stock it’s important to consider the regular use and environment of your products.

While some printers print directly on candles, we do not practice this since such a crucial decision will highly likely damage your beautiful labels. Wax, essential oils, and fragrances will penetrate the label and will lend to label deterioration, even with the application of a protective laminate.

QUICK EXPERT TIPS FOR YOUR CUSTOM CANDLE LABELS

KEEP CUSTOM LABELS RADIANT WITH PROTECTIVE LAMINATE. Candles are calming, luxurious, graceful, energizing—many types of label materials can be used to achieve that visual premium you’re after. Materials such as foil and natural white matte paper are on opposite sides of the spectrum in terms of performance. When it comes to porous label material, such as uncoated paper, it’s necessary to add a protective laminate to ensure that your labels won’t yellow over time as the candle burns. You can always opt for matte laminate to get the closest finish to uncoated paper. Need to see if your chosen material can take the heat? Contact us for a free print consultation, and we’ll get everything sorted out for you.

PLAN FOR BEST PRESENTATION AND MOVE OTHER SECONDARY INFO TO SECONDARY LABELS: Your prime candle labels (A.K.A. the “Primary Display Panel” or the main labels that are front and center) need to be instantly captivating and memorable. Too much text shouldn’t dim your lucent branding. Sometimes, a custom candle label’s readability and format are sacrificed because you absolutely need to include required information (candle specifications, container specifications, ingredients, product testing info, etc.) Don’t overwhelm your candle labels by cramming in too much information; Inkable Label Co.’s extended content solutions will help make labeling more graceful, put together, and more efficient, without cramping your style.

Since your products are considered fire hazards, industry standards dictate that you must include candle safety labels or cautionary labels. However this doesn’t necessarily need to be on your main label—the best spot to place this is on the underside of your candle or votive’s container. Just be sure to measure all labeling areas correctly to ensure that you get candle labels that perfectly fit on the surfaces that they’re supposed to go on.

CONFIRM THAT YOUR CONTAINER IS TAPERED OR NOT. A general inspection of your containers won’t tell you if your candle containers are tapered or not. If you’re not sure if your container has a taper, simply hold a straight edge ruler along the side. If there is a gap closer to the bottom of the container, then you have a tapered container. If you are unsure and need help with versioning your artwork for tapered containers, we’ll be happy to have our design team help you out, free of charge.

For tapered candle containers, you will need a uniquely shaped label. The actual candle label must have a slightly curved shape to accommodate the taper so that your custom candle label looks “straight” when it is applied on the jar, compensating for the angled surface. If you use standard rectangle labels, these will surely wrinkle when applied, distorting the artwork (images and text) of your candle label.

IMPORTANT ARTWORK TIPS

Please save your custom lotion label artwork as layered .PDF files so that our Prepress Team can properly check and report any issues to you. We can certainly work with .TIFF, .EPS, .PSD, and .AI files as well, but kindly make sure that you go through our FILE PREPARATION CHECKLIST below:

  • Proofread everything for typos and grammatical errors. To keep the integrity of your files, we do not check text.
  • Set all your images, objects, and the file’s color mode to CMYK for digital printing.
  • Add a 3mm bleed to all sides.
  • All raster images recommended 350dpi
  • Minimum line thickness .57pt or 0.2mm
  • We print candle labels to any size. Please double check artwork dimensions before sending to save on proofing time.
  • Do not include printer’s crop marks or registration marks in your PDF export.
  • Outline all fonts.
  • If you use a bleed, make sure your file has the correct bleed settings.
