CUSTOM TEA LABELS SPECIFICATIONS

Since we can print tea labels using many print processes, you get made-to-measure labels suited exactly to your needs while getting the most quantity for the least amount of money.

CUSTOM LABEL MATERIALS AND LAMINATES

Explore our curated selection of premium print processes, durable materials, and refined finishes to create custom tea labels that elevate your brand from first glance.

Since we can print labels using many print processes, you get custom tea labels suited exactly to your needs while getting the most quantity for the least amount of money.

White paper stock is our most popular labels tea packaging option since it is the least expensive label material that possesses the strength and durability needed for simple tea bag and tea box applications.

White is a common choice because it develops more accurate colors of label designs as it is essentially a plain canvas.

Brown kraft paper stock is also a common label material choice, especially if you have brown kraft tea bags and tea boxes—this helps the label go on seamlessly and blends right onto the tea packaging.

With any labels tea stock that isn’t white, keep in mind that colors will appear darker and label artwork will have less contrast.

We suggest getting a hard proof to check if the undertones of your brown kraft tea packaging match with our brown kraft stock as some browns are more red or yellow than others.

Foil stock, specifically our silver metalized paper, is one of our customers’ favorite tea label materials.

This offsets tea tin containers nicely, compliments and “continues” the metallic finish of the container to give an overall look that is put together and markedly custom.

      • Going for uncoated paper labels may look best with your tea packaging; however we recommend adding a laminate to increase durability for your tea bag labels.
      • Choose matte laminate for a low-shine finish to mimic the flat finish of uncoated paper. Tea labels without an added laminate will start to deteriorate when in contact with liquid and will fade more easily.

Get Dependable, Professional Custom Tea Labels That Elevate Your Brand

In the tea market, your packaging speaks before the kettle’s even on.

Don’t let your premium blends lose appeal with labels that wrinkle, smudge, or don’t match your brand identity.

We offer a wide range of specialty label materials tailored to your packaging style—whether you’re wrapping loose leaf tins, sealing glass jars, branding compostable pouches, or labeling elegant tea boxes.

Choose from pressure-sensitive and self-adhesive materials including coated and uncoated paper, white BOPP film, clear PVC, foil (PET and metalized paper), and kraft stocks to suit your unique brewing and branding needs.

Your custom tea labels should look as refined as your blend tastes.

Whether you’re labeling a calming herbal sachet, a limited-edition matcha tin, or a vibrant iced tea bottle, we’ll help you deliver lasting shelf appeal with premium print performance.

Choose the Right Material for Your Tea Labels

Tea packaging comes in many forms. Whether it be glass jars, kraft tea pouches, pyramid sachets, or metal tins, each has its own surface texture, storage demands, and consumer handling patterns.

Choosing the right label ensures your product remains eye-catching from the first steep to the last sip.

      1. White Plastic Film Stock – The Best All-Around Choice for Tea Containers

This is our top recommendation for most tea packaging types.

      • Flexible & Versatile: Conforms well to both rigid tins and flexible pouches.
      • Moisture-Resistant: Holds strong in humid kitchens and steamy tea-steeping environments.
      • Bright Print Surface: High-opacity white base ensures rich, legible designs and logos.
      • Optional Laminate: Gloss or matte finish available for enhanced durability and polish.

      2. Clear Plastic Film (PVC) – For a Minimalist or “Floating Text” Look

Great for transparent glass jars or pouches where the product is part of the visual.

      • No-Label Effect: Lets tea leaves or blends take center stage.
      • Sleek Presentation: Ideal for boutique brands and modern tea lines.
      • Durable: Withstands kitchen environments and repeat handling.
      • Perfect for Layering: Use selective printing for ethereal effects.

      3. Kraft Paper Stock – For Artisan or Eco-Focused Branding

Tea and kraft are a natural pair, especially for brands leaning into organic, earthy, or traditional storytelling.

      • Organic Texture: Brown paper with a raw finish evokes hand-packed authenticity.
      • Eco-Conscious Appeal: Signals sustainability and heritage.
      • Best on Pouches or Boxes: Pairs well with kraft bags, cartons, or belly bands.
      • Not Ideal for Condensation: Avoid for bottled teas or refrigerated items; kraft lacks moisture resistance.

Pro Tip: If your main packaging is kraft, request a swatch to confirm the label’s undertone matches your container’s material.

      4. White Paper Stock – For Budget-Conscious Customization

Perfect for brands that want solid results without over-investing in premium stocks.

      • Cost-Effective: Ideal for bulk tea SKUs or seasonal product runs.
      • Excellent Print Clarity: Great color rendering and detail on a smooth surface.
      • Laminate Strongly Recommended: Helps prevent moisture stains, scuffing, or ink lift.
      • Works Best on Dry Packaging: Great for boxed sachets or outer wraps, less suitable for bottled teas.

      5. Silver Foil & Holographic Label Stocks – For Premium or Limited-Edition Lines

Turn heads with shimmer, shine, or prismatic effects.

      • Silver PET or Metalized Paper: Adds upscale brilliance to collector’s blends or festive series.
      • Holographic Film: Engaging and eye-catching for novelty, seasonal, or youth-targeted products.
      • Flexible Design Use: Can be used for full-coverage or as accents.
      • Durability Built In: Finish with gloss or matte laminate for scratch and fade protection.

Final Tip: Your Custom Tea Label Should Steep in Quality, Just Like Your Tea Products

From cozy loose leaf tins to iced tea glass bottles, every tea packaging format deserves a custom printed tea label that withstands humidity, handling, and shelf time.

With the right material, you can extend your brand story from blend to brew, ensuring your product performs in every detail.

Need help deciding? We offer guidance, samples, and material recommendations tailored to your specific container type and brand goals.

        CHOOSING LAMINATE FOR TEA LABELS

A laminate is a clear, protective coating that also changes the final finish of your tea leaf labels.

Once applied, it creates a smoother label texture, and protects the print from wear-and-tear against rubbing or scuffing.

        • CHOOSE MATTE LAMINATE – For a flat, low-shine label finish, with printed colors that are soft and muted. Generally, colors are duller with less contrast. Matte coating is forgiving with low resolution prints and provides for a refined appearance.
        • CHOOSE GLOSS LAMINATE – Provides a smooth, high-shine finish that reflects more light. This enhances vibrancy, sharpens detail, and increases contrast—making shadows deeper and highlights brighter. Gloss is especially suited for bold color palettes and commercial-style designs. It also provides more resistance to ink smudging than matte, particularly on paper labels.
        • CHOOSE HOLOGRAPHIC GLOSS – Combines the shine and protection of gloss with a prismatic rainbow effect that becomes visible under changing light angles. This laminate can breathe new life into older label designs but isn’t suitable for all artwork. We recommend ordering a sample to ensure it complements your brand aesthetic.

MADE-TO-MEASURE, WITHOUT THE HEFTY PRICE TAG

NOTE: Choose the correct orientation for your roll labels and make sure that the direction that your labels are coming off the roll compliments your labeling operations. This is needed for successful application, especially for machine application.

TIPS TO GET THE RIGHT LABEL FORMULA TO MAKE YOUR TEA BRAND MORE MEMORABLE

Especially if you are an emerging brand, it is important to be consistent with your tea labels branding so your customer enjoys a remarkable experience with your tea products.

Create a memorable tea labels that are touchpoints to make your tea brand marked and successful.

For a premium brand presentation, here are some quick expert tips for your custom tea labels:

While a diecut label fitting into the grooves of your tea tin container or tea bag labels definitely gives a high quality look, if your container is simple (such as a tea box, with a flat surface all throughout) standard shapes like circles and squares are also elegant in their simplicity, with the right artwork and execution.

Cut down cost first; gold or silver foil and embossing can come later once you’re sure that your customers know you and your brand has been established.

When you are sure your tea bag labels are the perfect size and shape, you can add special finishing touches for the next press run.

A simple addition of another artboard to specify design elements that need to be highlighted can revitalize your new tea labels going forward.

If you choose uncoated paper tea labels, remember that they don’t have any protective coating on them, which means that tea labels are neither waterproof nor moisture-proof.

This lends to a shorter life span in terms of ink rubbing off and tea labels getting damaged with moisture. If you choose uncoated paper for your custom labels material, remember that these tea labels fade more quickly because they are not reinforced by laminate.

If you’d like to keep the uncoated paper finish, add matte laminate to give your tea labels some protection against wear and tear; however shiny gloss laminate will do a better job at this.

Remember to store your reserve tea labels in a place that is cool and dry, not exposed to sunlight, to keep tea labels looking vibrant and in top condition.

Printing foil labels, using foil substrate, is a more cost-effective alternative to doing foil stamping (which is more expensive due to setup costs).

You can opt for custom foil labels with White Ink Underprinting if you are on a budget, but want to keep that high quality appeal—foil tea labels will support an look of grandeur, distinction, and, style for your tea bag labels and tea tin packaging

Perfect for kraft tea boxes or tea bag labels, using kraft tea labels for tea products will certainly help with creating a seamless impression.

One big thing to keep in mind: As the stock is not white, colors will print darker due to the brown paper base color.

Your artwork previously printed on white stock will translate differently on this stock, and there is less contrast unless you adjust your color values.

Especially if it is your first press run, we suggest that you test colors first by doing a HARD PROOF to see if your tea labels colors turn out accurately with the new brown stock.
