Your File Preparation Checklist for Custom Foil Stamped Labels

  • Preferred File Type: Layered .PDF: This allows our team to easily check and report any potential issues. (We can also work with .TIFF, .EPS, .PSD, and .AI files – just pay extra attention to the points below.)
  • Text Accuracy is Key: Please proofread all text for typos and grammatical errors. We want your message to be perfect, and we don’t alter your original text files.
  • CMYK for Vivid Prints: Set your images, objects, and overall file color mode to CMYK. This is essential for vibrant digital printing.
  • Add a 3mm Bleed: Crucial for professional-looking edges, remember to add a 3mm bleed on all sides.
  • High-Resolution Images: For crisp, clear custom foil stamped labels, ensure all raster images are at least 350dpi.
  • Visible Lines: Your lines should be a minimum of .57pt or 0.2mm thick to print clearly.
  • Confirm Dimensions: We print your custom foil stamped labels to any size, so please double-check your artwork dimensions upfront. This helps us get to proofing faster.

To specify which elements should be foil stamped, create a separate artboard dedicated solely to the foil layer.

This should be distinct from your full print design file.

  • Create a separate artboard specifically for the foil layer.
  • Name this artboard “Foil Stamp” for clarity.
  • On this artboard, indicate all areas to be foil stamped using solid 100% Black (100K) shapes.
  • Do not include any other design elements—only the areas that should receive the foil.
  • This black layer will be used to create the foil die, so ensure precision.
  • Keep this foil layer completely separate from your full-color print design.
