FEATURE YOUR SWEET STORY: LABELS THAT PRESERVE AND PROTECT YOUR HONEY BRAND

With honey being a versatile and nourishing food product on its own, we have seen our customers also acknowledge this as a powerhouse ingredient in cosmetic and bath and beauty products.

We promise to match this versatility with our own selection of durable and food safe labels to make sure that whether in the kitchen, the bathroom, or inside a purse, your own custom honey labels stay put and look good all the time.

Choose from a variety of our standard pressure-sensitive and self-adhesive paper (coated and uncoated), plastic film (white BOPP), clear PVC, foil (PET and metalized paper options), and kraft label stocks for your unique requirements. When choosing your label stock it’s important to consider the regular use and environment of your products.

Choose the Right Material for Your Honey Labels

RECOMMENDED STOCKS FOR HONEY LABELS

White plastic film stock is our top recommendation for most honey label applications. Durable, flexible, and waterproof, this stock is ideal for:
- Honey jars and cosmetic tubesShower-friendly productsSqueeze bottles and on-the-go formats
Its pearlescent, milky-white base produces vibrant, high-contrast prints with a subtle shine. This stock is tear-resistant, oil-resistant, and holds up well under constant handling.
Best for: Squeezable bottles and any curved containers
Tip: Add a laminate (matte or gloss) for added protection against friction and abrasion.
Important note for squeezable honey bottles:
This is our only recommended stock for wraparound labels on squeezable containers.
Other plastic-based labels may work if you’re using separate front and back panels—but full wraps can wrinkle or bubble due to compression and decompression. If you want a no-fail option, white plastic film is it.

White paper stock is a cost-effective label material, suitable for standard honey jars and shelf-stable packaging. While more affordable than plastic, it still delivers solid print quality and decent durability for everyday use.
Note: If choosing white matte uncoated paper, we strongly recommend adding a laminate—especially for oil- or moisture-prone environments. Use matte laminate for a soft satin-like finish that mimics uncoated paper while enhancing longevity.

Kraft paper stock is a favorite for brands seeking a natural, rustic, or eco-conscious appeal. Its warm, earthy tone complements organic branding and minimalist designs.
Our kraft paper has yellow undertones—request a hard proof or sample to ensure it matches your packaging or desired look.
Not recommended for: Honey products exposed to moisture, oils, or frequent handling (like honey creams or refrigerated items), as uncoated kraft deteriorates when wet or abraded.
Best for: On-shelf displays and dry storage environments.

Clear plastic film (PVC) stock gives a sleek, “no-label look” that blends seamlessly with clear honey jars and bottles. This transparent option highlights your product’s natural color and consistency. Print only what you want to be visible—clear areas remain invisible, mimicking direct-to-container printing.
Great for: Jar top labels, minimal designs, or complementary secondary labels like tamper-proof seals and best-before dates placed on jar bottoms.
Bonus: Often more cost-effective than custom die-cut labels, especially for minimalist designs.

Foil silver stocks (Silver PET and Silver Metalized Paper) and Holographic silver stock offer a bold, custom look that contrasts the typical “natural” aesthetic of most honey packaging. These materials:
- Mimic metallic foil stamping (at a lower cost)Elevate shelf presence with shine, texture, and visual intrigue
Silver foil stocks provide a refined metallic finish.
Holographic silver adds a signature rainbow shimmer for creative, eye-catching designs.
Both options come with free matte or gloss laminate to guard against fading and abrasion.

Important note for foil & holographic labels:
These materials require intentional design planning and Prepress support to get the best results. Contact us and we’ll help prepare your artwork to suit these specialty stocks, free of charge.

CHOOSING LAMINATE FOR LOTION LABELS

A laminate is a clear, protective coating that also changes the final finish of your lotion labels.

Once applied, it creates a smoother label texture, and protects the print from wear-and-tear against rubbing or scuffing.

CHOOSE MATTE LAMINATE – For a flat, low-shine label finish, with printed colors that are soft and muted. Generally, colors are duller with less contrast. Matte coating is forgiving with low resolution prints and provides for a refined appearance. If you are writing lot codes or batch numbers for your honey permanent markers are ideal, however ballpoint pens may have minimal smearing depending on its quality.
CHOOSE GLOSS LAMINATE – Provides a smooth, high-shine finish that reflects more light. This enhances vibrancy, sharpens detail, and increases contrast—making shadows deeper and highlights brighter. Gloss is especially suited for bold color palettes and commercial-style designs. It also provides more resistance to ink smudging than matte, particularly on paper labels.
CHOOSE HOLOGRAPHIC GLOSS – Combines the shine and protection of gloss with a prismatic rainbow effect that becomes visible under changing light angles. This laminate can breathe new life into older label designs but isn’t suitable for all artwork. We recommend ordering a sample to ensure it complements your brand aesthetic.

MADE-TO-MEASURE, WITHOUT THE HEFTY PRICE TAG

Your custom honey labels will arrive in the exact size and shape you need. No restrictive templates, no extra charges.

And they’ll look just as flawless on the shelf as they did fresh off the press.

Unlike most label printers, Inkable Label Co. lets you print any size you need—from 1″ x 1″ to 12″ x 18″—with zero setup fees.

Enjoy hassle-free, cost-effective honey label printing made to your exact specifications.

Standard shapes:

FOR SQUARE AND RECTANGLE LABELS, corners can either be straight or rounded, depending on your custom honey label needs.
FOR DIE CUTS (A.K.A. CUSTOM SHAPES), please use our CUSTOM ORDER FORM.

NOTE: Choose the correct orientation for your roll labels and make sure that the direction that your labels are coming off the roll compliments your labeling operations. This is needed for successful application, especially for machine application.

CUSTOM PRINTED HONEY LABELS WITH FOIL STAMPING (METALLIC EFFECT)

Add more depth, polished detail, and lustrous elegance to your custom printed honey labels with foil stamping. This special process uses pressure to transfer metallic foil onto the surface of your paper label stock.

Choose to highlight specific parts of your label artwork, or foil the entire label to get an overall metallic sheen for a high end look. Just make sure the lines aren’t too thin as anything under 1pt can’t be foiled cleanly.

NOTE: Foil stamping is different from our foil labels. Foil stamping does not utilize metallic-looking inks, rather it uses an extremely thin foil sheet and printing plates to create the metallic imprints.

To be able to achieve this, talk to your designer and specify that a new artboard needs to be created. This new artboard must indicate all the areas where foiling should be done, with solid shapes set in 100K (100% Black color). Label this artboard “Foil”. If you need help setting this up, contact us now and we’ll help you get started.

CUSTOM PRINTED HONEY LABELS WITH EMBOSSING (RAISED EFFECT)

Add custom decorative touches for a two-dimensional, premium custom honey label. A metal die and high pressure are used to create impressions on your label, for depth, texture, and tactile beauty.

For a more involved creative concept, embossing as a final touch increases a custom label’s visual premium for prime labels that outshine competition.

Use embossing for crisp lettering or prominent logos to highlight important visual elements. Just make sure the lines aren’t too thin as anything under 1pt can’t be embossed cleanly.

NOTE: Embossing can be done WITHOUT INK—this is called “Blind Embossing”. This is most commonly done when creating a textured look to the whole label, such as applying patterns and camouflaged borders.

To be able to achieve this, talk to your designer and specify that a new artboard needs to be created. This new artboard must indicate all the areas where embossed effect would be, with solid shapes set in 100K (100% Black color). Label this artboard “Emboss”. If you need help setting this up, contact us now and we’ll help you get started.

TIPS TO GET THE RIGHT LABEL FORMULA TO CREATE YOUR SWEET SENSATIONS

Your honey label is a crucial part in telling your story—your passion about honey, the humble bees that work tirelessly to produce it, and your passion for your art and business.

While putting together a successful custom honey label requires a ton of planning and effort, a put-together and robust honey label that captures the essence of your brand secures you the mind and heart share of your patrons.

Here are some quick expert tips for your custom honey labels:

It’s best to take your chosen container and finalize where and how you want your labels to be positioned.

A made-to-measure label that looks meant for its honey container presents your brand as professional and polished.

Doing an approximation that will “just fit in general” especially if you have different SKUs may seem like it will save you money at first, but with digital printing you might even save more since you can do multiple runs without the high setup cost.

Your precious honey products deserve memorable labels.

Honey products will be exposed to oil, moisture, and frequent handling.

One or all may be the case for your honey products, depending on where your customers store the honey and how they use it.

Your labels need to hold up to external factors and look good while doing it, for as long as your product is still being enjoyed. Need to see if your chosen material can take the sticky sweetness?

PRO TIP: Print label sets for your honey products if you’re constantly changing and improving your recipe.

This smart move also works with seasonal offerings. A single wraparound label can be your simplest option, but separate front and back labels do have their advantages. A single label works great if you have a labeling machine for quicker application.

Separate labels are advantageous if you keep branding and graphics on the front label and consumer information on the back label—if your honey formulation changes or if you need to update product information, you would only need to modify the back label instead of rearranging the whole layout.

Get the optimum size by correctly measuring your containers.

If you’re applying your honey labels manually, it can get tedious pretty quickly.

A trick to make this task more forgiving is to subtract ⅛” from the measurement of the width to add a “gap”.

This gives you some leeway so you won’t need to line up the ends perfectly.

A ⅛” allowance, when done as a gap for the label height (top to bottom) is also the standard tolerance requirement with automatic label applicators, plus it again gives you room to position your labels comfortably with manual label application.

ARTWORK READY? YOUR GUIDE TO PERFECT CUSTOM HONEY LABELS

We’re excited to bring your custom honey labels to life!

To help our Prepress Team ensure your artwork is flawless and avoid any delays, please prepare your files with these helpful guidelines:

File Preparation Checklist for Custom Honey Labels

Preferred File Type: Layered .PDF: This allows our team to easily check and report any potential issues. (We can also work with .TIFF, .EPS, .PSD, and .AI files – just pay extra attention to the points below.)
Text Accuracy is Key: Please proofread all text for typos and grammatical errors. We want your message to be perfect, and we don’t alter your original text files.
CMYK for Vivid Prints: Set your images, objects, and overall file color mode to CMYK. This is essential for vibrant digital printing.
Add a 3mm Bleed: Crucial for professional-looking edges, remember to add a 3mm bleed on all sides.
High-Resolution Images: For crisp, clear custom honey labels, ensure all raster images are at least 350dpi.
Visible Lines: Your lines should be a minimum of .57pt or 0.2mm thick to print clearly.
Confirm Dimensions: We print your custom honey labels to any size, so please double-check your artwork dimensions upfront. This helps us get to proofing faster.
Clean PDF Export: When exporting your PDF, do not include any printer’s crop marks or registration marks.
Outline Your Fonts: Always outline all fonts to prevent any font-related issues during production.

Inkable's staff were kind, helpful, and clear about every detail. They made my custom and gorgeous, waterproof/oil-proof labels. I have tried different companies and they do not compare to Inkable's quality and value. I can't wait to order more for my other products! Thank you so much!
