START STRONG: LABELS THAT POWER YOUR NUTRACEUTICAL BRAND
Nutraceutical labels need to look sharp and polished, inspiring trust in customers, since these identify products that are imbibed by our bodies. Keeping your labels’ integrity intact merits your product over and above identification—this carries over to the impression of the quality of the contents themselves, and keeping a label vibrant and legible helps greatly with follow up customer care, for a continued conversation pertinent to their well being.
Choose from a variety of our standard pressure-sensitive and self-adhesive paper (coated and uncoated), plastic film (white BOPP), clear PVC, foil (PET and metalized paper options), and kraft label stocks for your unique requirements. When choosing your label stock it’s important to consider the regular use and environment of your products.
RECOMMENDED STOCKS FOR HEALTH PRODUCT LABELS AND NUTRACEUTICAL LABELS
Stock is crucial in creating the perfect nutraceutical label. Customers come to us looking for different label materials for individual labeling requirements or specific performance criteria to complement their product lines. Conditions must match performance so that prints look as beautiful as they did right after they were freshly applied. If budget is a big factor, we can help you decide on the most cost-effective option based on what environment your label will be in. Just as you wouldn’t need the extra protection if your labels would go on pouches that contain individually wrapped supplements, you could get away with simple coated paper stock for vitamin bottles that would be stored in the cupboard. However, if your nutraceutical products need to be refrigerated after opening, you certainly need something that is more capable of staying put, even with condensation and changes in temperature.
White plastic film stock is our recommended material most suited for the majority of nutraceutical label applications. It is thin and flexible, great for wraparound labels. This is especially valuable for smooth, curved surfaces. Extremely durable, these self-adhesive labels come in a beautiful pearlescent milky white with high opacity and shine, developing vibrant prints, with high contrast. This stock is tear-proof and impervious to water and oil. Add gloss laminate for more vibrant and commercial-looking prints, or matte laminate for a satin finish. Laminates give some protection against ink scuffing with constant handling.
Clear plastic film (PVC) stock holds up extremely well on both shelf and in the fridge. This is a versatile and stylish choice if you particularly want your label to “disappear” on your nutraceutical containers. Clear labels will give you that “no label look” or printed-right-on-the-bottle look which works in synergy with opaque containers, especially if your containers are of visually-stimulating colors and follow a certain color scheme for each product line. This label stock is also a cheaper option compared to diecut labels (cookie cutter shape labels) since you would simply need to print white and colored ink on areas that need to be conspicuous—the clear, unprinted label material will blend onto the container, taking after the color of its background, leaving you with any custom shape of whatever has been printed.
Foil silver stocks (Silver PET and Silver Metalized Paper) and our Holographic silver stock will transform your labels into showstoppers, great for men’s and women’s body building supplements that need to convey dynamism and energy. Our holographic silver stock has a signature rainbow sheen that adds vigor to capture any customer’s attention as this effect gives your nutraceutical labels more shelf appeal. These label materials come with either gloss or matte laminate to further protect your custom labels against friction and fading.
These specialty stocks will make your custom nutraceutical labels look markedly custom and our foil stocks can become cheaper alternatives to hot or cold foil stamping, if your nutraceutical labels require metallic-looking prints. If you require help executing a certain design concept, contact us and our Design and Prepress Teams will be happy to help you set this up prior to printing, at no additional charge.
Kraft paper stock is another popular choice with the “green” personality inherent in this material. The warmth of the natural brown color and eco-friendly feel are main visual factors that make this stock a perfect match for natural products. Our kraft stock has more yellow undertones—if you would like this stock for your custom nutraceutical labels, we recommend requesting for samples or a hard proof to verify that the kraft packaging that you have matches our kraft paper, if you would like a seamless transition from label to bottle.
This label stock isn’t going to work well with bottle labels as this stock is uncoated and this will pose problems with print longevity. Frequent handling and moisture will wear away your kraft label, making the paper base crumbly as it deteriorates with use. This stock is recommended for external packaging, as in supplement boxes and pouches on-shelf.
White paper stock is our cost-efficient nutraceutical label option since it is the least expensive material that costs less than labels with a plastic base. These have comparable print quality, strength, and durability if packaging applications would be for products sitting on the shelves and not in the fridge.
While we do have a white matte uncoated stock, if choosing this option, we strongly advise adding a laminate to make the labels hardy against oil, moisture, and frequent handling. If you absolutely need uncoated paper stock, we recommend cleaning your container surfaces thoroughly with alcohol to guarantee superior tack.
CHOOSING LAMINATE FOR NUTRACEUTICAL LABELS
A laminate is a clear, protective coating that also changes the final finish of your nutraceutical labels. Once applied, it creates a smoother label texture, and protects the print from wear-and-tear against rubbing or scuffing.
CHOOSE MATTE LAMINATE – For a flat, low-shine label finish, with printed colors that are soft and muted. Generally, colors are duller with less contrast. Matte coating is forgiving with low resolution prints and provides for a refined appearance. If your nutraceutical bottles are of a satin finish, this type of laminate is a perfect complement.
CHOOSE GLOSS LAMINATE – Gloss makes your labels extremely smooth and allows them to reflect a lot of light, for high shine. This reproduces vibrant color and delivers sharper detail due to higher contrast (shadows are darker and highlights are brighter). Gloss also provides more protection against ink scuffing compared to matte laminate, especially with paper labels.
CHOOSE HOLOGRAPHIC GLOSS – Same as gloss laminate, but with the addition of a transparent color gradient that is only apparent once the surface catches light at different angles. The transparent rainbow effect transforms old nutraceutical label artwork into a more dynamic piece. This kind of laminate doesn’t suit all label designs and concepts. We suggest getting a label sample to check if this will enhance your existing health product label artwork.
