Bougie Syrups is a brand that is full of personality—dapper, quick-witted, always the life of the party, savvy. The epitome of extravagance and the wonderfully posh—their posed offerings truly hold an undeniable appeal—their shop screams luxury.

Meant to sharpen the appetite and delight the taste buds, their products serve as the base for pouring up great libations, perfect for unforgettable nights of sharing stories.

Packaged in stunning, gleaming, gold foil-stamped diecut labels on tall glass bottles, these products certainly dress to impress, and have proven to be indispensable in the unwavering art of creating timeless infusions, mixes, cocktail drinks that have always been as fascinating as they are gratifying.

The brainchild of Patrick Noel, Bougie Syrups’ repertoire sets up the exquisite foundation of the classic and unique, and always creative flavor ventures of their customers.

The company successfully captures the spirit (pun intended) and flavor of its eponymous creations, for good times with great drinks, easy to make at home.

In a nutshell, what is Bougie Syrups all about, and why did you start offering your products?

Bougie Syrups is about allowing people to recreate craft cocktails in their home. We originally created the company as a response to our guests asking us how to make better cocktails at home.

Because one of the more labor-intensive aspects of bartending can be creating these syrups using real ingredients and fresh flavors, we decided to apply our experience behind the bar and create these syrups for people to use at home. We think that cocktails are a creative and fun way to bring friends together for conversation.

For those who aren’t familiar with your repertoire, could you give us an overview of your offerings?

We aim to keep things simple, so we focus on creating flavors that are accessible and versatile. Currently, we offer a Simple Syrup, Ginger Syrup, Orgeat (Almond syrup), Lime Cordial, and our Tiki Syrup, which is a spiced grapefruit flavor.

Each of these was created because these flavors are called for often in classic cocktails and can also be used to easily create original recipes as well. We are always thinking about new flavors to create for future products.

How is Bougie Syrups different from other brands?

There are two main aspects that differentiate Bougie from other cocktail syrup producers. The first is that our products are created by professional bartenders. We are always trying to maintain the highest level of quality when we develop our products, so that the bartenders at home can enjoy the same experience they would have in a high-end restaurant or world-class cocktail bar.

This brings us to the second differentiating part of our company: our brand. The brand is designed to be all-encompassing and to convey a certain degree of class and sophistication, so that home bartenders and imbibers alike appreciate the skill and, to a degree, artistry behind cocktails.

What particular Bougie Syrup is a fan favorite right now? And could you share a popular recipe that everyone must try?

A current fan favorite is our Tiki Syrup. Grapefruit, lime, and our secret blend of spices reflect the tropical flavors that are found in many classic tiki cocktails.

This syrup is also very versatile and can complement any spirit, from gin to tequila to whiskey.

One of my favorite recipes we have developed with this syrup is the “Barbados Slim”: 1.5 oz. Gin, .5 oz. Bougie Tiki Syrup, .5 oz. Velvet Falernum, .5 oz. lime juice. Shake ingredients together and strain into a cocktail glass.

What inspires you most about your work?

The thing that inspires us most is when we hear how much people enjoy our syrups at home and how it allows them to enjoy cocktails with their friends.

Everybody likes to be the first one to share something that excites them, and it is really rewarding to hear how we can be a part of providing that experience.

What is Bougie Syrups’ proudest moment to date? And can you give us a sense as to why it’s such a key milestone?

The biggest milestone for us so far has been the partnership that we have with our local distributor. It was a big deal for us become it not only validated the work that we had put in to get to that point, but it also allowed us to grow much faster than we would have otherwise and to reach a much wider audience.

How significant was it to be able to execute that kind of branding, style, and aesthetic?

The aesthetic is an integral part of our company. It is one of the vital components that allows us to create that sense of sophistication and elegance for our customers.

What’s the best piece of advice you can give to those who are starting out with their own businesses?

Be flexible and don’t sell yourself short.
